Commissions

How a commission
comes to be.

Five steps, one maker, no rush. From the first conversation to the piece in your room — here's exactly how it works.

01

Consultation

30–45 min · studio or call

We meet to understand how you live, the room the piece will hold, and the feeling you’re after. No sketches yet — just listening, timber talk, and honest advice on whether a commission is the right path.

02

Design & sketch

2–3 weeks

You receive hand drawings, joinery details, and two or three single-source timber options — each with a fixed quote. We refine together until the drawing is exactly the piece you pictured.

03

Deposit

40% to reserve

A 40% deposit reserves your slot in the bench queue and secures the specific boards for your piece. From here, the timber is yours and the wood begins to acclimatise.

04

The build

8–18 weeks

One maker, one commission at a time. Every mortise and tenon is cut by hand. You receive progress photographs at each milestone, so the piece takes shape in your inbox as it does on the bench.

05

Delivery

White-glove

We deliver and place the finished piece ourselves, with care notes and a maker’s mark carrying your commission number. Balance is due on delivery — and the piece begins its long life with you.
